If any of these sound familiar, a dry eye evaluation can help:

  • Burning, gritty, or tired eyes

  • Watery eyes (yes, watering can be dryness)

  • Red or irritated eyelids

  • Contact lens discomfort

  • Symptoms that return quickly after drops

Why drops often don’t solve it

Dry eye is often not “just a lack of tears.” In many patients, the tear film becomes unstable because the oil layer isn’t doing its job. That oil is produced by the meibomian glands along the eyelids. When those glands are blocked or inflamed, you can end up with irritation, tearing, and fluctuating vision—even if you’re using drops.

IPL for Eye Inflammation & Dry Eye Symptoms

Lumecca-I

Lumecca-I is a form of intense pulsed light (IPL) designed for the area around the eyes. For appropriate patients, IPL can reduce inflammatory drivers that contribute to dry eye symptoms and support healthier eyelid function.

Typical experience:

  • Non-surgical, in-office

  • Many patients describe it as quick and tolerable

  • Treatment plans are often done as a series

What happens at a Dry Eye Evaluation

Your first visit is about clarity—not guessing:

  • Symptoms and history review

  • Eyelid and tear film assessment

  • Determine whether IPL/RF is appropriate

  • Build a plan (home care and in-office series when needed)

How many sessions are typical?

Many treatment plans are performed as a series. The number of sessions depends on your symptoms, eyelids, and response—your evaluation determines the plan.
